October was an eventful month for us here at North Lakes Developments and we have some exciting updates to share with you.
We have been fortunate enough to get a number of our building permits for this winter, so we have been in full swing to get our foundations in the ground! With all the hustle and bustle we’ve still managed to get out and enjoy a little bit of the fall for ourselves.
My Wife and I enjoyed going apple picking and baking a few treats from what we brought home. A fun activity to distract from the to do’s for the work week ahead.
We got our demo permit for our Six-Plex build and demolished the existing structure earlier this month. Check out the video above of the first step of building our first true apartment building.
We also got our building permits for a pair of Triplex’s and a Coach House this month and this last week we broke ground on all three.
We are excited to have these projects up and running and having a few more on the way for this winter. After many months working through the development process, nothing is quite like watching the first few days when construction has begun!
Call To Action to Increase Housing
I don’t know how many of you have heard on the radio but their is an add playing currently funded by BILD calling people to sign a petition to induce change in the housing sector. BILD is an organization for builders looking to make changes in the industry which will help those of us with the drive to do something a better runway to work off of.
The three action Items they are focusing on are
1. Fixing the Federal HST New Home Rebate Program
2.Making municipal approvals quicker
3.Control the costs governments add to new homes
If you want things in the housing industry to improve in the coming years I highly encourage you to sign the petition. I have attached a link to the petition here. We are getting an opportunity to have our voices heard and if we don’t do anything we loose the opportunity!
