Oshawa’s Major Transit Area Stage 3 Is Complete, What You Need To Know

I hope you are having a great spring and no water issues with the rain we had this past month!

In the spring,  a great idea is to check for any signs of water penetration at your property. Unfortunately, two of our upcoming projects and one current project have had some water penetration this past month. So we will be completing a number of waterproofing and water prevention projects in the near future.

The pictures above are some of our upcoming projects where waterproofing will be necessary.

Water can cause major damage, particularly to finished spaces, repairs can require a substantial investment. Check around the exterior of your property to ensure downspouts are properly diverted and everything is graded away from the foundation.

On the interior, you can use a moisture meter to trace leaks behind finished spaces to determine if there is an issue. Before finishing a space below grade, it is always a good idea to strongly consider if it is worth the investment of a waterproofing system. If needed waterproofing needs to be done before going ahead with completing the space.

Oshawa’s Transit Study Area Has Completed Stage 3

Oshawa is nearing the end of its major transit study and has given out further guidance on how they want the lands within the study area to be utilized in the foreseeable future.

For those of you who remember at the end of stage two they were determining which of three density options would best serve the community in the future.

With the end of stage three, Oshawa has indicated that they believe the highest density option would be the best going forward.

Through the study, they determined that downtown Oshawa has a deficiency of neighborhood park areas therefore they have set out guidelines for park contribution areas so developers understand where parks are designated for in the future.

The city has also indicated several roads that will be expanded to facilitate the increased traffic through the region.

These changes are expected to bring a significant number of new residents to this area and an uptick in development activity.

We personally are excited to see what the downtown core will become over the coming decades as the pace of gentrification in this area continues to increase.
